More great writing from Room 6

Liam was away last week because he was sick. Therefore he didn't get to publish his writing on our blog. Today, he wrote a great recount about his weekend. Here it is for you to enjoy. Well done Liam and it is so good to have you back.

This week we have been learning about persuasive writing. We each wrote a letter to Mr Wadsworth to persuade him to buy us some tape to make life size model bikes from newspaper. He has promised to read them over the weekend and on Monday he is coming to class to give us his decision. Exciting!

The Peacock Family

The Peacock Family by Matthew and Declan from Pahoia School on Vimeo.
Today, during Friday choosing time, Matthew and Declan created this little movie. They used Puppet Pals and did this from start to finish on their own. I am so proud of you boys. What an example for the rest of us.

Persuasive writing.

Today, we looked at persuasive writing. The focus question was "do cats or dogs make the best pets?" The children had to decide and then justify their decision by coming up with supporting reasons. Here are some children chatting about what they thought.

We had some brilliant writing.

Louis
Cats are the best pets!
Cats are the best pets because you can snuggle up with them by the fire and you can pat them anytime you like. Farmers use them to keep mice out of their barns. Kittens can play games. Cats are very clean animals. I love cats.

Lauchlan
Cats and dogs are the best pets!
Cats are the best pets because they can run up a tree before the dog gets it. Then when the dog has gone the cat can run down again.  Cats are not messy and they don't swim in yucky water. Dogs are good pets because they are great swimmers and they protect your home and they protect your family. That's why dogs are best.
