Awesome People In Our Community

On Friday, we had the pleasure of having a visit from three fire fighters. The fact that they happened to bring along a shiny red fire appliance was very cool!

As you know, our theme this year is "Community." Therefore, while we had heaps of fun, this visit was a wonderful tool to teach our children about what community "looks" like. Community, in school or beyond, is about people working together. The fact that one of the fire fighters has a son in Room 6 made it even more special. Thank you Katikati and Athenree Fire Brigade! Who needs Mrs Devitt!

It was a great pleasure today to sit back and put my feet up!

Welcome to Room 6 Miss Flett. You did an amazing job at Pride Time today. I love how you really thought about your audience and kept the illustrations facing us. Well done.

Buddy time

As promised, Mrs Grinder and I had a surprise for our children during buddy time today. We gave them the task of working together to create a bee. They had to follow directions very carefully and help each other on the way. It was an absolute joy to see them working so well together. It was especially lovely for me to see some familiar faces back in Room 6. What a great example of our awesome school community working together.

Music in Room 6

This week, Dagmar came into our class for music. The children showed her how our listening skills are improving and guess what, we are learning to read music. Awesome work Room 6.

The Fun Bus

This is one of our projects this week. What a blast! For our Shared Reading this week, we have read "The Fun Bus." The children got so excited that I decided we needed to take this text a bit further, hence this little movie. The children collectively decided what props they needed and where we should do the filming. That is why I had to climb up to the "hut" in the playground! It was absolutely fantastic to see the children engaged in a text they had examined so thoroughly all week. Awesome work guys.

Buddy Reading with Room 4

It was just great to see the children from Rooms 4 and 6 buddy read on Friday. They were amazing and the discussions they were having about what they had read was extraordinary. We are looking forward to Friday when we will do it again. Hopefully the sun will continue to shine.
