Trying out new technology

http://corrinne.podomatic.com/entry/2011-05-30T00_20_40-07_00
This is something I am trying out. It may be a way we can easily record children as they read allowing them to ask themselves..."do I sound like a successful reader?" "What strategies am I using and what ones do I need to brush up on?"

The worm squiggled and wiggled all through room 6

Hi everyone, I hope you are all well. As I write this the rain is poring down. Good for the gardens...not so good for kids!
This week we have done quite a bit of procedural or step by step writing. The children are all catching on and have produced some top quality work. Well done everyone!

In science, we have revisited "worms" and had a brilliant discussion about what we know. I learned that the hairs on a worm are called setae! One of the things we all agreed on was how worms are so good for our soil. The wiggle and burrow letting air and rain in. We all contributed to making our own gigantic worm and looked at how it moved each segment to move. Enjoy!

I am hoping to record some more of our fantastic, successful readers in the near future...stay tuned!

As you are all aware, we are continuing to look at "change." Our focus has been on life cycles and this week it was the turn of the worm. We built a worm farm which gave the children the opportunity to get up close and personal with hundreds of worms, and it also gave us the chance to look at worms and how they can affect change. We have been learning about how they are amazing recyclers!

Welcome to Term 2

Welcome to Term 2. I am so sorry about the delay in getting this post to you. I have been experiencing a few "technical" difficulties.
Term 2 is going to be fantastic. We have already had a great week. As I'm sure you are aware now, our focus for this term is science. We are going to look at life cycles to begin. Come and have a look at our learning about "the human life cycle."

Could I just remind you that our library day is Thursday. There are still a number of books that need to be returned.

Have an awesome weekend everyone!
